十月二十八日，英國安格里亞魯斯金大學（Anglia Ruskin University）宣布收回香港立法會議員何君堯的名譽法學博士學位，我這才知道何君堯原來曾獲頒名譽博士頭銜，立法會議員簡介也寫上這「博士學歷」，立法會文件更以Dr Hon Junius Ho（議員何君堯博士）相稱，真是有趣得很。
按名譽學位本是西方玩意，獲頒授者照理應遵從西方的名譽學位慣例。英國A&C Black出版社《Titles & Forms of Address（頭銜與稱謂）》一書The Universities（大學）一章指出：「名譽博士頭銜，如會令人誤認作學術資格，當然就不會使用（They are of course not used in circumstances where they might seem to imply an academic qualification）。」名譽學位怎可當作「學歷」。
又名譽學位一般不用作頭銜。這一點，互聯網上Wikipedia（維基百科）Honorary Degree（名譽學位）條目之下，也說得很清楚。原文是英文，為恐何君堯讀不懂，謹翻譯如下：「根據通例，獲頒名譽博士學位者，一般通信上不用『博士』頭銜；但頒發該學位的大學所發公函，則循例會稱之為博士（By convention, recipients of honorary doctorates do not use the title "Dr" in general correspondence, although in formal correspondence from the university issuing the honorary degree it is normal to address the recipient by the title）。」
其實真有學問者，不會炫耀什麼博士頭銜；只有斗筲之人，才會連名譽學位都拿來招搖。
