台灣16歲少女周子瑜15號晚「被道歉」，不僅引發全台民眾憤怒情緒，各國網友也自發在各大社群平台跨國聲援，以子瑜的「瑜」英文發音「Yu」，發起＃standbyyu活動。台《蘋果動新聞》特別將Ben E. King的藍調名曲「Stand By Me」，改編成「Stand By Yu」，製作《站在你身邊》MV，表達「力挺子瑜，我們站在你身邊」之意。
