問：「水到渠成」可不可以譯做to go with the flow and achieve success naturally？
答：「水到渠成」一語，出自《景德傳燈錄》卷十二，有僧人向光涌禪師請教：「如何是妙用一句？」禪師說：「水到渠成。」後人就以此比喻「事勢相因，自然成就，不待強求」。梁實秋《最新實用漢英詞典》的翻譯是：As water comes, it forms a channel automatically ── the thing takes care of itself。前半截是直譯，後半截是意譯，意思是「此事任其自然，卽可成功」，與光涌禪師原意貼切。不過，「水到渠成」今天不一定有「任其自然」含義，所以，《最新林語堂漢英詞典》意譯如下：Success will come when conditions are ripe（條件成熟，成功就會來臨）。
梁、林的翻譯，各有千秋。我則會翻譯如下：Everything is in place for success（成功所需的一切，都已具備）。另一譯法是：Success is assured（成功已可確定）。例如「他出馬，自然水到渠成」可以譯做With him offering to do it, success is assured。當然，翻譯不可以一成不變，必須按上下文遣詞用字。上述一句，在不同場合，可改譯如下：With him offering to do it, everything will fall into place。Everything will fall into place即「一切都會妥當」。
至於讀者示下的譯法，意思恐怕不對。To go with the flow有「隨遇而安」的意思，例如：You will find life easier if you go with the flow（跟從趨勢，隨遇而安，做人會舒服一點）。
