問：Ultimate concern是什麼意思？
答：Ultimate可以解作「最後的」、「極度的」或「歸根結底的」，例如：（1）What was his ultimate decision?（他最後的決定是什麼？）（2）For this simple girl, the ultimate luxury was to have dinner in a restaurant（對這個單純的小姑娘來說，上餐廳吃晚飯，就是最豪奢的享受）。（3）It seems that his ultimate goal in life is to earn money（他人生的目的，歸根結底，似乎就是賺錢）。
Concern可以指「關心的事」。比如說，取締百姓人權和自由，都是大陸當局的concerns，但這些都不是他們的ultimate concern。他們的ultimate concern是保障其私利和獨裁權力：The mainland authorities are doing everything they can to suppress citizens' rights and freedoms, their ultimate concern being to safeguard their selfish interests and absolute power。
問：查《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》，pantry是「closet or small room in a house, used for storing food食品貯藏室；食品貯藏櫃」。然則公司放電冰箱、蒸餾水機、櫥櫃（內有刀叉盤碟等）的房間，可不可叫pantry？
答：Pantry其實不只是貯藏食品的地方。另一本牛津英文字典 The New Oxford Dictionary of English 解釋得詳細一點：a small room or cupboard in which food, crockery, and cutlery are kept（貯藏食品、陶器、刀叉等的小室或櫥櫃）。讀者說的那種房間，當然可以叫pantry。
