答：動詞request和suggest、propose等一樣，其後假如用that子句（clause），那子句應用「should + 原形動詞（infinitive）」，而那should字往往畧去，例如：（1）He requested that we（should）keep everything confidential（他要求我們把一切保密）。（2）The applicant requests that he（should）be given an interview（申請人要求面試）。讀者示下那一句，就是用這句式。
有時，request等字之後that子句的動詞，會隨時式變化，例如He requested that we kept everything confidential等，但這種寫法要非正格，也遠遠沒有「should + 原形動詞」那麼通用。
問：In the letter sent to the Security Council, Mr Brown raised two questions（在寄給安全理事會的信中，布朗先生提出兩個問題）這一句，sent之前可不可加being一字？
答：這一句的sent之前，其實畧去了that（或which）was兩字。由於信件已經寄了給安理會，sent之前不可加being一字。A letter（that is）being sent是「正要寄的信」，還未寄到收信人手上，例如：A request for donations will be made in the letter being sent to the parents（將寄到家長手上的那封信，會要求捐款）。
