答：那兩個英文說法，其實都沒有「暗戀」的意思。形容詞infatuated和名詞crush多是指短暫的迷戀，而crush所說的迷戀對象，身分往往和迷戀者不匹配，例如：（1）He will probably be infatuated with another girl tomorrow（他明天可能又迷戀另一個女郎）。（2）She had a crush on her chemistry teacher（她迷戀化學老師）。
「暗戀」可以是長期的。十九世紀英國作家沃德（Robert Ward）小說De Vere; or, the Man of Independence第十九章男主角對暗戀多時的意中人說：Contempt never could be the feeling of so gentle, and at the same time so honourable a bosom, towards love unprofessed, and hopes cherished (if cherished) only in secret（你的情懷是那樣善良，那樣高貴，絕對不可能鄙視我的暗戀，鄙視我心底或藏着的一點希望）。Unprofessed love和love cherished only in secret，都明明白白是指「暗戀」，也都勝於be infatuated with和have a crush on。
問：敝公司代理汽車潤滑油，宣傳品上寫Over 140 years under the hood和Well known in over 140 countries，文法有無不當？
答：這兩句一是說「用於汽車發動機已有一百四十多年」，一是說「馳名一百四十多個國家」，文法都正確。Hood是汽車發動機罩，罩下（under the hood）當然是發動機。
