日軍一個前護士寫下第二次世界大戰期間在江西省九江市的經歷：
「營房入口有一個士兵守衞，手中槍終日裝上刺刀。假如他覺得進來的中國人鞠躬不夠恭敬，就打他們兩記耳光。這樣的事，天天都有，我也習以為常了。
「有一天，緊急手術室主管着我去觀察心臟手術。軍中外科醫生叫我觸摸那個心臟。我第一次感到心跳力道原來那樣強烈。我離開手術室時，還有兩個中國人身蓋毛毯，坐在椅子上。我看不出他們的性別。這是把人活生生解剖的醫學實驗。」
