Duringa1908filibuster,LaFolletterefreshedhimselfwithoccasionalglassesofeggnoglikeconcoction.Oneofthesedrinkswassobitterthathetookonesipandthenhadittakenaway.Analysislatershowedthatthebeveragecontainedenoughptomainebacteriatokillhim.Hebecameillbutkeptontalkingandsetaone-manfilibusterrecordof18hours,23minutes.
