ThesiegeoftheToledoAlcazarin1936wasanimportantNationalistvictoryintheopeningstagesoftheSpanishCivilWar＊.AntonioRamirez,ayoungNationalisthero,wasapacifistwhoatfirstrefusedtohelpdefendtheancientstronghold,andwasputonlatrineduty.Whenthesituationofthebesiegedbecamemoredesperate,hedecidedthatitwouldnotbeinconsistentwithhisprinciplestoaidinthedefence,providedthathedidnotkillinhatred.
Hewasassignedthepositionofloadertoaheavymachinegun.Itwassaidthathewouldgivethesignaltofirewiththewords:"Fire--butwithouthatred."
NinedaysbeforetheAlcazarwasrelieved,agrenadeshatteredRamirez'sarm.Heneverrecovered,anddiedtwomonthslater.
一九三六年托萊多城堡攻守戰，是西班牙內戰＊初期國民派一次重要勝利。國民派年輕英雄安東尼奧．拉米雷斯是和平主義者，最初拒絕參與這個古老城堡的保衞戰，被派去料理軍中茅廁，後來見守軍形勢越來越危急，才改變主意，認為只要不抱仇恨而開殺戒，也不違背和平主義原則。
他奉命給一挺重機槍裝彈藥。據說，他每次發出「開火」信號，都會說：「開火──但不帶仇恨。」
城堡解圍前九天，一枚手榴彈炸碎了拉米雷斯的手臂。他沒有復元，兩個月之後去世。
