In1675,theTurkslaidsiegetoTrembaula.ThePolishnobilityinthefortressdeterminedtodeliveruptheplace.Chrosonowski,governorofTrembaula,heardtheresolutiontheyhadtaken,andinstantlyrepairedto*thecouncil."Itisyetuncertain,"saidhe,"whethertheenemywillmasterus.Butthisiscertain,that,ifyoupersistinyourdastardlyresolution,Iwillburneveryoneofyoualiveinthishall.Thesoldiersareatthismomentatthedoors,andthetorcheslighted,readytoexecutemyorders."Thisfirmnesshadthedesiredeffect,andthenobilityabandonedtheirdesign.
Chrosonowskiwasabletoholdthefortresstillhelparrived,whichcompelledtheTurkstoraisethesiege.
