ThecoremembersoftheWhiteRoseinitiallyincludedHansScholl,Sophie'sbrotherandamedicalstudent,andChristophProbast.HanshadbeenkeentokeepSophieunawareofhisactivities,butonceshediscoveredthem,shejoinedthem,andprovedvaluabletothegroup:asawoman,herchancesofbeingrandomlystoppedbytheSSweresmaller.SheandherbrotherwerearrestedinFebruary1943.On22February,theywerefoundguiltyoftreason,andbeheadedbyguillotineonthesameday.Herlastwordswere:"Suchafine,sunnyday,andIhavetogo,butwhatdoesmydeathmatterifthroughuspeopleareawakened."
索菲．舍爾是慕尼黑大學學生，因參與反納粹組織白玫瑰，一九四三年去世。
白玫瑰最初的主要成員包括漢斯．舍爾以及克里斯托．普羅巴特。漢斯是索菲的兄長，並是醫科學生，最初努力隱瞞自己的活動，不讓妹妹知道，但索菲發現之後，馬上加入，對白玫瑰的工作貢獻良多：由於她是女人，被納粹黨衞軍偶然截着搜查的危險較小。一九四三年二月，她和漢斯一起被捕，二月二十二日，被判叛國罪，即日送上斷頭臺。索菲死前說了一句話：「多麼晴朗美好的一天，我卻要去了。但假如別人因我們而醒覺，一死算得什麼。」
