TheBritisharmyfirstusedtheshellintheNapoleonicWars.ItsoterrifiedFrenchsoldiersthattheybelievedtheBritishhadpoisonedtheircannonballs.SirGeorgeWood,commanderoftheBritishartillery,creditedtheshellwithplayingacriticalroleinthedefeatofNapoleonattheBattleofWaterloo.
