不過，希巴女王在中東以及非洲無數故事之中都有出現。根據衣索匹亞傳說，所羅門王用他膾炙人口的智謀，玩弄了希巴女王。他答應不強求希巴女王共寢，但女王須發誓不擅取他任何東西。所羅門王跟着就吩咐僕人給希巴女王送上晚餐，菜肴都多用鹽。晚上，女王口渴，拿起牀畔的水壺喝水，所羅門王責她偷竊，逼她薦枕。
