歐多西亞一時愚蠢，怕引起丈夫懷疑，就說把蘋果吃了。狄奧多西拿出那個蘋果，怒氣沖沖，講出心中猜疑。歐多西亞當時的狼狽樣子，不難想像。狄奧多西下令把波萊納斯處死，並把歐多西亞放逐到耶路撒冷。歐多西亞後來就在耶路撒冷去世。
