In1759,aFrenchsquadronoffivefrigatesinvadedIreland.In1760,theyattackedthetownofCarrickfergus.Whenthecombatantswereopposedtoeachotherinthestreets,andeveryinchofgroundwasdisputedbytheBritish,alittlechildsuddenlyranoutofahouse,andplayfullystoodbetweentheconflictingparties.
Seeingtheimminentdangerofthechild,aFrenchsoldiergroundedhispiece,lefttheranks,tookthechildinhisarms,andrantothenearestdoorwithhim,whichhappenedtobehisfather's.Heplacedthechildinsafety,andthenreturnedwithallpossiblehastetoresumehispartinthefight.Hewassoonafterwardsseriouslywounded,andwasseentotakeapicturefromhisbosomanddiedkissingit.
一七五九年，法國一隊五艘快速軍艦侵犯愛爾蘭。一七六○年，他們進攻卡里克弗格斯市，雙方在街上戰鬥，英軍寸土必爭。一個小孩子忽然從一幢房子裏走出來，一副貪玩樣子，站在交戰的軍隊之間。
法國一名士兵眼看那孩子處境危急，放下槍，從戰鬥隊伍中走出去，抱起孩子，跑到附近一幢房子門前，而那正是孩子父親的房子。他把孩子放在安全的地方，馬上轉身，回到戰鬥崗位。不久，他受了重傷，有人看見他死時從懷中取出一幅圖像親吻。
