"WhenthedoorbellrangthereweretwoGermans.Bothcameupstairs.Onestayedatthetopofthestairsandtheothercameintotheroom.Helookedaroundandthetwomenwhoweretherehadtogetdressedandgowiththem.
"Webeingwomenwerecrying,bothofus,onewomanwithababyinherarmsandanotherhangingonherskirt.TheoneGermaninsidetheroomwascryingtoo,andhesaid,'I'msoterriblysorry,butI'mnotalone.I'dlovetobeabletohelpyoubutIcan'tdoanythingbecausethere'ssomeonewithme.'Hereallycried--bigtearsrollingdownhisface."

「門鈴響起，來了兩個德國人。他們走到樓上，一人站在樓梯頂，另一人則走進房間四望。房間裏的兩個男人得穿上衣服跟他們走。
「我們做女人的，都哭起來，兩人都哭了，其中一個懷裏抱着嬰兒，裙邊還有一個嬰兒倚着。房間裏那個德國人也在哭。他說：『真對不起，但我不是獨個兒前來的。我很希望幫助你們，卻完全無能為力。因為有人和我同行。』他真的哭了，大顆眼淚沿着面頰滾滾而下。」
