Hiserraticbehaviourworsenedwiththedeathofhismotherin1827.HehadthousandsofZuluskilledsothattheirfamiliesmightmournalongwithhim.Evencowswerekilledsothattheircalvesmightknowwhatitwasliketoloseamother.Massacreswerecarriedoutofthosedeemedinsufficientlygrief-stricken.Apparently,heusedhispersonalgrieftomaskthetruemotivesbehindanextensivepoliticalpurge.InSeptember1828,hewasstabbedtodeathinacoup.

沙卡的母親一八二七年去世，沙卡不可捉摸的行為就變本加厲。他把數以千計祖魯族人處死，使死者家人和他一起哀悼。他甚至宰殺母牛，使小牛明白喪母之痛。他認為「哀傷情未切」者更遭屠殺。看來，他是以個人的悲哀，掩飾政治上大肆剷除異己的真正動機。一八二八年九月，沙卡在政變中遇刺身亡。
