Tocome是whichare/istocome的縮略，常用在years、months、days、generations、time等說時間的字之後，指「將會到來的歲月/日子/世代/時間」等，例如：（1）HewillunderstandwhatIsaidintimetocome（將來，他會明白我說過的話）。（2）Thedaystocomewillbeverydifficultones.（來日大難）。讀者說的那一句，意思就是「希望未來多年，能繼續為你服務，令你滿意」。
一本《英語辭令解剖》有以下一句：Amidsttherumoursofillhealth,theabsenceofthepresidentwithstatedinnerwasnoteworthy。這一句是不是犯了「不連結句子」（danglingsentence）的錯誤？
所謂不連結句子，一般是指分詞子句（participleclause）誤用了主要子句的主詞（subject），這一點昨天拙欄已有解釋。至於amid/amidst（在……之中）帶出的片語（phrase），是不必有主詞的，你可以說Amidsttherumoursofillhealth,thepresidentwasconspicuouslyabsentfromthestatedinner，也可以說Amidsttherumoursofillhealth,theabsenceofthepresidentfromthestatedinnerwasnoteworthy，兩句意思都是「在患病的傳言之中，總統缺席國宴，惹人注意」。換言之，主要子句的主詞無論是thepresident還是theabsence，都可配amidstrumoursofillhealth這片語。
留意原句withstatedinner應改為fromthestatedinner。那位讀者也許是抄錯了。
