「合作擦出火花」是不少香港人喜歡的文藝腔口頭禪，戲子尤其愛說，英文最好意譯：Theircooperationislikelytobringoutthebestthatisinthem。Tobringoutthebest/theworstinsomebody即「帶出某人最優秀/最惡劣的品質」。假如要譯出「火花」的比喻，則bringout可用sparkoff取代。Spark是「火花」，作動詞，指「發出火花」，動詞片語（phrasalverb）sparkoff是「引起」、「誘發」的意思，例如：WhatsparkedofftheriotsinGreece?（是什麼觸發希臘的暴動？）
