最近收到大學聯合招生處電郵，說Ourrecordindicatesthatasoftodate...（根據本處記錄，迄今……）Asof和todate這樣連用有沒有問題？
Asof可解作「直到（某個時候）」或「由（某個時候）開始」，例如：（1）Asoftoday,wehavereceivednocomplaintsfromourcustomers（我們至今沒有收到顧客投訴）。（2）Asoftoday,youwillreportdirectlytothemanagingeditor（由今天開始，你直接向執行編輯負責）。
Todate是「直到今天」的意思，例如：Todate,Ihavenotheardfromhim（我至今沒有收到他的音信）。Asoftodate其實也是todate的意思，等於asoftoday'sdate，多作公文用語，只是絕不常見，例如：Asoftodate,thedepartmenthasslippedintoadeficitof$2million（到今天為止，部門虧損了二百萬元）。
Bath和bathe有什麼分別？
Bath作名詞，指「沐浴」、「浴室」、「澡盆（的水）」等，這用法英美無別，例如：（1）Givethebabyabath（給嬰兒洗個澡吧）。（2）Thebathwastoohot（浴盆的水太熱了）。
至於動詞，英式英文「沐浴」叫bath，「沖洗、浸泡（傷口等）」叫bathe；美式英文則一律叫bathe，例如：（1）Shehadtobath/bathethebaby（她須給嬰兒洗個澡）。（2）Youshouldusewarmwatertobathethewound（傷口要用溫水沖洗）。
留意講「沐浴」，英國人一般會說tohaveabath，美國人則多說totakeabath，較少用動詞bath或bathe，例如：Sheishavingabath（她正在沐浴）。
