AftertheBattleofHeraclea,thefamousRomansoldierFabriciuscametoKingPyrrhus'camptoaskforthereleaseoftheRomanprisoner.PyrrhusadmiredFabriciusandinvitedhimtobehischiefofstaff.Fabriciusreplied:"Thatwillnotbetoyouradvantage.Onceyoumengettoknowme,theywillchoosemeoveryou."
Pyrrhusdidnotexplodeinatyrannictantrum.Onthecontrary,amonghisfriendshecommendedFabricius.HeentrustedFabriciuswithalltheRomanprisoners,whoweregivenleavetoreturntoRomefortheSaturnalia.FabriciusguaranteedtobringthembacktocaptivityiftheRomansenatestillwantedwarratherthanpeaceaftertheholidays.
Eventually,alltheRomansreturned,asFabriciushadpromised.
赫拉克利亞戰役後，羅馬著名軍人法布里丘斯來到皮拉斯王的軍營，要求釋放被俘羅馬將士。皮拉斯對法布里丘斯十分景仰，邀請法布里丘斯做他的參謀長。法布里丘斯回答：「這對你沒有好處。你的手下一旦認識了我，就會選擇追隨我而捨棄你。」
皮拉斯沒有像暴君一樣大發雷霆，反而在朋友之間稱許法布里丘斯。他把被俘羅馬將士全部交給法布里丘斯，容許他們回羅馬過農神節。法布里丘斯保證，農神節假期之後，假如羅馬元老院仍然主戰不主和，他會把這些戰俘送還。
最後，正如法布里丘斯所說，那些戰俘都回到皮拉斯營中。
