地面鋪磚前須「打地臺」，牆身油漆前須「批灰」並「用砂紙打磨」，英文怎麼說？此外，貼牆紙、門檻、玄關、天臺屋等，英文是甚麼？
「地臺」英文叫floorslab，「打地臺」就是tochiselthefloorslab，例如：Thefloorslabmustbechiselledbeforeceramictilescanbelaid（鋪瓷磚之前，要打好地臺）。
「灰泥」、「砂紙」英文叫plaster和sandpaper。這兩個字也可作動詞，指「塗灰泥」和「用砂紙擦」，例如：Thesloppyworkerpaintedthewallswithoutbotheringtoplasterorsandpaperthem（那個工人很馬虎，牆壁油漆之前既不批灰，也不用砂紙打磨）。

「門檻」是threshold，「玄關」一般是指門戶，即door，但也有人用來說門廊，即porch，例如：（1）Itissaidthatcarryingyourbrideoverthethresholdintoyournewhomewillbringyougoodluck（據說，新郎抱起新娘踏過新居的門檻，會有好運）。（2）Helefthisshoesatthedoor/ontheporch（他把鞋子留在玄關處）。
「天臺屋」是rooftopstructures，例如：Thegovernmenthasfinallydecidedtostoptheproliferationofillegalrooftopstructures（非法「天臺屋」雨後春筍般增加，政府終於決定禁止）。
