「難得糊塗」英文怎樣翻譯才好？
「糊塗」一般可譯做muddle-headedness，但「難得糊塗」頗有反話意味，那「糊塗」不可直譯。十八世紀英國詩人格雷（ThomasGray）有一首"OdeonaDistantProspectofEtonCollege"（伊頓高等學校遠景頌），最後一句說：Whereignoranceisbliss/'Tisfollytobewise（既然無知是福，聰明未免不智）。這句詩已成為諺語，常略作Ignoranceisbliss、blissfullyignorant、blissfulignorance等，和「難得糊塗」意思十分相似，例如：（1）Inacountrywhereindependentthinkingcanresultinimprisonmentandexecution,ignoranceiswithoutdoubtbliss（在獨立思想會招致監禁、處決的國家，糊塗實在難得）。（2）Thepatientremainedinblissfulignoranceof/remainedblissfullyignorantofhisimpendingdeath（那病人難得糊塗，完全不知道自己大限將臨）。
吳靄儀議員在立法會議上談到今年財政司長的預算案，說Hisapproachisnoticeablydifferentfromthepastattitudeofsquander-and-salt-away。請問squander-and-salt-away是什麼意思？
Squander是「浪費」，saltaway則是「用鹽醃藏」，俚語引伸解作「積蓄（錢財等）」，例如：（1）Inthedaysbeforetheadventoftherefrigerator,peopleusedtohavetheirsurplusfoodsaltedaway（電冰箱發明之前，一般人會用鹽醃藏多餘的食物）。（2）Shehassaltedawayquitealittlemoneywithoutherhusband'sknowledge（她攢了不少錢，丈夫都不知道）。吳靄儀那一句是說，現任財政司的理財態度「明顯和過去時而浪費時而撙節的方式不同」。
