讀報看到Iwouldsayhewasoutofhismind一語，是不是「我想，他意料不到」？
Outofone'smind當然不是「意料不到」，而是「精神錯亂」，也作outofone'ssenses或notinone'srightmind，例如：（1）Hemustbeoutofhismindtodothingslikethat（他做那樣的事，一定是精神錯亂）。（2）Nooneinhisrightmindwouldtakedrugs（有理性的人，都不會吸毒）。Outofone'smind和成語outofsight,outofmind（不在眼前，就不在心中）的outofmind完全不同。Outofsight,outofmind是「別久情疏」的意思。
至於「意料不到」，一般不用mind字來說，可譯做nottobargainfor、tobeunpreparedfor、donotexpect等，例如：Thatwassomethingheneverbargainedfor/hewasunpreparedfor/heneverexpected（那是他絕對始料不及的事）。
