Notonly和butalso一般連用，但句子假如用了aswell，要不要還用also？以下兩句文法對嗎？──Someinformationisnotonlyuselessbutmisleadingaswell/Someinformationisuselessandmisleadingaswell（有些資料不但沒有用，還會令人誤會）。
Also、aswell和too都是「也」的意思，用了其一，自然就不應疊牀架屋，再用其他說法，例如：Hehadtolookafternotonlyhischildren,butalsohisparents/buthisparentsaswell/buthisparentstoo（他要照顧的除了孩子，還有父母）。留意notonly只和but字連用也可以：Hehadtolookafternotonlyhischildren,buthisparents。加上also、aswell或too，是強調說法。
Someinformationisuselessandmisleadingaswell一語，那aswell也有強調作用，文法當然沒有錯。
Intotal和atotalof意思、用法有分別嗎？
Intotal和atotalof都是「總共」的意思，但兩個片語(phrase）用法不同。Intotal在句子裏是獨立的，atotalof則必須和一數目連用，例如：Atotalofeightpeoplewerewounded/Intotal,eightpeoplewerewounded（傷者共有八人）。
小女做英文習作，要把Thisboyisfillingabottlewithmilk（這男孩正把牛奶裝滿瓶子）改為複數形式。老師的答案是Theseboysarefillingsomebottleswithmilk，那some字是必需的嗎？
Somebottles即「一些瓶子」；abottleofmilk其實改做bottlesofmilk就可以，絕對不必加some字。
