衞生防護中心有小冊子說：「Influenzacausessignificantdiseaseburdeninsomepopulationgroupswhereitisassociatedwithincreasedriskofcomplications對於某些容易因流感而出現併發症的組別人士而言，流感確實為他們帶來沉重負擔。」按populationgroups是指人，關係代名詞為什麼用where而不用who？Increasedrisk是「被增加的風險」，意思頗為奇怪，是不是應改為increasingrisk（正增加的風險）？
先說where。Where是關係副詞（relativeadverb），等於inwhich或atwhich。一組組的人，假如視為一個個整體，關係代名詞習慣用which，例如：（1）Thefamilywhichhevisitedwasawell-to-doone（他訪問的是個富裕家庭）。（2）Shegrewupinafamilywherethere/inwhichtherewasahistoryofbreastcancer（她長於一個有乳癌病歷的家庭）。讀者說的那一句，用where指populationgroups並沒有錯，改用inwhich也可以，例如：TherearesomepopulationgroupsinHongKongwhere/inwhichrealunempolymentratesareabove15%（香港有些人口組別的真正失業率是百分之十五以上）。
現在說increased。這類過去分詞（pastparticiple，即完成式動詞）的確多帶被動含義，但有時可指「有某種特質」，例如anarmedrobber（帶有武器的強盜）、afallenangel（墮落的天使）、aretiredcivilservant（退休的公務員）、adark-eyedgirl（黑眼睛的女孩子）等。Increasedrisk即「有較大危險」，假如改為increasingrisk（不斷增加的危險），意思就不同了。
