In1812,inordertofinancehisinvasionofRussia,NapoleonsetupafactoryinParistoproduceauniqueproducttobe"traded"formilitarysupplies.Theproductwas--counterfeitmoney.
一七九九年，拿破崙軍隊往敍利亞途中，行經沙漠，犯了一個錯誤：以水蛭蕃滋的水解渴。水蛭黏附在他們鼻子、咽喉內，士兵因失血、窒息而死者數以百計。
一八一二年，拿破崙為解決進侵俄國的軍費問題，在巴黎開辦工廠，生產一種特別製品以換取軍需。那製品是──偽幣。
【附注】Enroute原是法文，等於英文ontheway，例如：TheplanestopsinSydneyenroutefromAucklandtoHongKong（飛機由奧克蘭飛香港，途中在悉尼停留）。由於是外文，enroute印刷時一般用斜體。
Slake一字並不常用，多見於文學作品，指「解渴」或「滿足慾望」，例如：Nothingcouldslakehercravingformoney（她求財的慾望是無法滿足的）。「解渴」除了說slakeone'sthirst，還可說quenchone'sthirst，例如：Youcan'tquench/slakeyourthirstwithseawater（海水不能解渴）。至於「充飢」，則不能說slake或quench，動詞應用satisfy，例如：Anenormousmealsatisfiedhishunger（一頓大餐把他吃飽了）。
