ThefirmhasalightgoodsvehicleofwhichtheregistrationnumberisCX1234（公司有一輛輕型貨車，牌照號碼是CX1234）一語，vehicle之後可以加逗點嗎？
說「公司有一輛輕型貨車」，當然不必界定是哪一輛，正如Hewaswearingabluetie（他繫着一條藍色領帶），那條藍色領帶也不必界定。非界定關係子句（non-definingrelativeclause）之前應有逗點，所以，嚴格而言，vehicle之後應用逗點，正如以下一句也用逗點：Hewaswearingabluetie,whichwasagiftfromhisgirlfriend（他繫着一條藍色領帶，是女朋友送的）。不過，隨便一點，這兩句不加逗點也可以，反正不會引起誤會。
值得一提的，是ofwhichtheregistrationnumberisCX1234這寫法頗為罕見，一般會寫theregistrationnumberofwhichisCX1234。換言之，關係子句用ofwhich二字的，多是「名詞＋ofwhich」，很少「ofwhich＋名詞」，這裏再舉一例：Ilookedattherun-downhouse,theroofofwhich（或ofwhichtheroof）waspastrepair（我看着那破敗房子，屋頂已毀壞得無法修葺）。
假如不用ofwhich，可用whose，例如Ilookedattherun-down,whoseroofwaspastrepair以及Thefirmhasalightgoodsvehicle,whoseregistrationnumberisCX1234。從前，whose一般用來說人，不可用來說領帶、貨車等無生命事物；但現在這條文法已經過時，即使是一些保守文法家，都不反對用whose說事物了。
