ForsomereasonorotherIbelieveheisstillalive（很難說是什麼原因，但我相信他還在生）一語，some之後為什麼不用複數形式的reasons？
Some有兩個意思，一是「一些」，其後配複數或不可數（uncountable）名詞；一是「某一」，常和orother連用，可帶出你不清楚或不想清楚說明的人或事物，其後配單數名詞，例如：（1）Somepeoplearefluentinseverallanguages（有些人可以流利的說幾種語言）。（2）Someman（orother）hasbeentailingherrecently（最近有個男人在跟蹤她）。Somebody/someone（某人）、someday（某一天）、someway（某個方法）、someplace（某個地方）等的some字，當然都是「某一」的意思。
SeveralterroristshijackedtwoaircraftandcrashedintotheWorldTradeCenter（幾名恐怖分子劫了兩架飛機撞向世界貿易中心）一語，crashedintotheWorldTradeCenter的主詞是terrorists，似是恐怖分子自己撞向世貿中心而不是駕着飛機撞去，改作crashedthemintotheWorldTradeCenter會好一點嗎？
說crashedthem（=theaircraft）intotheWorldTradeCenter是可以的，但不加them也可以。英文說到飛機、汽車等的動作，常以駕駛或乘搭者為言。請看第六版《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》例句：（1）I'mflyingtoHongKongtomorrow（我明天會搭飛機去香港）。（2）Shecouldfeeltheywereskidding（她感到他們的汽車在打滑）。第一句不必改為I'mflyinginanaeroplanetoHongKongtomorrow，第二句也不必改為Shecouldfeeltheircarwasskidding。
