Unhesitatingly,hesilentlysignalledoneofhismentofollowhimacrosstheborder.HewoundedandsubduedtheNorthVietnamesesentry,thencarriedhimbacktoheadquarterslikeasackofpotatoes.
越戰期間，和談假巴黎舉行，始終沒有成果。有一次，美國軍事指揮部要活捉一個北越士兵，以證明「河內破壞停戰協議，派軍隊入非軍事區」的指控。
一天晚上，奧利弗．諾斯上校告訴手下：「我們去俘虜一個人回來。」他在非軍事區找不到獵物，只見對方邊界內有個敵兵打瞌睡。
諾斯毫不猶豫，悄悄做個手勢，叫一名士兵隨他走到敵方邊界內，把那北越哨兵打傷制服，然後像提一袋馬鈴薯那樣，帶回大本營。
【附注】Quarry可解作「獵物」，也可解作「採石場」。兩個意思的quarry來源不同，其實是風馬牛不相及的兩個字，但現在往往當作一字兩義，例如：（1）Thehunter'squarry,ababyelephant,turnedtofacehim（那獵人追獵的小象轉過身，對着他）。（2）Heworksinaquarry（他在採石場工作）。
