WhilebeingsmuggledoutofDenmarkinaBritishMosquitofighter-bomber,Bohrwasseatedinaspeciallydesignedchairdirectlyoverthebomb-baydoors.Thepilots'orderswerethat,iftheycameunderattackfromGermanfighters,theyweretoditchBohrpromptlyintotheNorthSea.
丹麥物理學家尼爾．玻爾由於對原子理論多所發明，一九二二年獲諾貝爾物理學獎。一九三○年代，不少猶太及其他民族的物理學家遭希特勒驅逐，玻爾的理論物理學院就成為他們安身之所。一九四三年，玻爾逃出德軍佔領的丹麥，去了英國，然後赴美國，協助製造原子彈。
英軍用蚊型戰鬥轟炸機把玻爾偷送出丹麥的時候，安排他坐在特別設計的座椅上，座椅下面是彈艙門。飛行員接到的命令是，假如德國戰機來襲，馬上把玻爾掉入北海。
