Recently是「最近」，英式英文常配以完成式或簡單過去式動詞，美式英文則習慣配過去式動詞，例如：He(has)recentlyjoinedthecivilservice（他最近加入了公務員行列）。假如最近的事持續至今，動詞還可用現在進行完成式，例如：Thecomputerhasnotbeenworkingverywellrecently（電腦最近有點不妥當）。
Just（剛剛）和already（已經）同樣可配簡單過去式或完成式動詞，例如：（1）I(have)justhadbreakfast（我剛吃了早餐）。（2）Ihavealreadyseenthatfilm/Ialreadysawthatfilm（我看過這部電影了）。
最近香港電郵系統被地震破壞，公司有通告說：Emailsareeithernotbeingdeliveredorarebeingdeliveredveryslowly（電郵或無法傳達，或經久才能送達）。那being一字是怎樣用的？
讀者示下那一句，刪去兩個being，文法依然正確，只是意思不同：沒有being，是說平日電郵傳達經常出現問題；保留being，則有「暫時如此」含義。這裏再舉一例：你平日工作，經常受到電話鈴聲妨礙，可以說Theconstantringingofthephonehampersmywork或Myworkishamperedbytheconstantringingofthephone；但假如電話只是過去一兩小時才開始響個不停，那你就應該說：Theconstantringingofthephoneishamperingmywork/Myworkisbeinghamperedbytheconstantringingofthephone。
