英文改正練習有Itispossiblytounearthstudents'potential（學生的潛能是可以發掘的）一語。我認為可改作Itispossiblyunearthstudents'potential，為什麼標準答案卻是Itispossibletounearthstudents'potential？
Possible是形容詞（adjective），可修飾名詞；possibly則是副詞（adverb），可修飾動詞，例如：Rainispossibletoday/Itmaypossiblyraintoday（今天可能下雨）。Itispossibletounearthstudents'potential結構上等於Tounearthstudents'potentialispossible，句式和Rainispossible相同，自然正確。
至於Itispossiblyunearthstudents'potential，結構上等於Unearthstudents'potentialispossibly，即把副詞當做形容詞，違反了英文文法。
小兒的英文「答問」練習有一題問：HowlonghasCherryputthepuddinginthefridge?我教他答以Thepuddinghasbeeninthefridgeforthreehours，但老師改為Shehasputthepuddinginthefridgeforthreehours，這樣改正確嗎？
讀者那個回答文法上沒有錯，但答非所問。練習問的是「切麗把布丁放進冰箱裏多久了？」答案自然是「她把布丁放進冰箱裏有三小時了」之類，不應說「布丁在冰箱裏有三小時了」。那位英文老師改得沒錯。這正如人家問：Haveyoureadthebook?（你讀過這本書嗎？）你應說Yes,Ihave（我讀過）或No,Ihaven't（我沒有讀過），不應說Thebookhasbeenread/hasnotbeenread（這本書有人讀過/沒有人讀過）。答問題，要留意的不只是文法。
