一八一二年拿破崙進侵俄國，不少法國高級軍官喪生或身受重傷。烏迪諾元帥的妻子歐仁妮記錄了她預感到的一件不幸事故：「我期待着丈夫的半身像：我們將近離開柏林時，當地一位頗具才華的藝術家造了這半身像模型。一天早上，有人來報說，一個大箱子從德國送到。我拖着母親去看，興奮的催促他們把箱子打開。第一層、第二層和最後一層包裝紙揭去了，只見石膏像一邊肩膀殘破，將近脫落。我大吃一驚，腦海裏閃過不祥的念頭，而這預感不幸成為事實。幾天之後，我丈夫的肩膀就被葡萄彈打碎。」
