【附注】HighSeas是「公海」，即離陸地十二海里以外的海域，不隸屬任何國家，那seas習慣用複數形式，例如：（1）Theshiphassailedthehighseasfor25years（這艘船航行公海已有二十五年）。（2）TheTitanicwaslostonthehighseas（鐵達尼號在公海沉沒）。
留意damages指「損害」，是不可數名詞（uncountablenoun），無論損害多少都不可說damages；但是，法律上的賠償卻須用複數形式的damages，例如：（1）Thejudgeorderedhimtopay$100,000indamages（法官要他付賠償費十萬元）。（2）Thestormdidgreatdamage（暴風造成很大的破壞）。
