HespeaksEnglishmuch/veryfluently（他說英語說得很流利）、Thisisamuch/veryinterestingbook（這本書很有趣）、Heismuch/verydedicatedtohisjob（他致力工作）等句子，應用much、very還是兩者都可以？
Much一般不會用來修飾fluently、interesting等形容詞（adjective），所以，讀者示下的頭兩句都應用very。不過，much可修飾比較級（comparative）形容詞，例如：（1）HespeaksEnglishmuchmorefluentlythanIdo（他說英語比我流利得多）。（2）SheismuchclevererthanIthought（我遠遠想不到她那樣聰明）。留意英文不可以說Sheismuchclever，只可說Sheisveryclever（她很聰明）。
作形容詞用的過去分詞（pastparticiple，即完成式動詞），也多用very修飾，例如：（1）Heisverydedicatedtohisjob。（2）Iamveryinterestedinoutdoorsports（我對戶外運動深感興趣）。
至於much，多用來修飾被動語態（passivevoice）的動詞，例如：（1）Heismuchlovedinhiscountry（他在國內深獲愛戴）。（2）Hisheroicdeedsarestillmuchtalkedabout（他的英勇事迹，仍然為人津津樂道）。這兩句的much都不可改為very，但可改作verymuch。
當然，以上說的只是一般規則。文法總有些例外。Amused（感到有趣）一字，就用very或much修飾都可以，例如：Iwasvery/much/verymuchamusedtofindthedoghidingundermybed（我發覺狗兒躲在我的床下，覺得很好笑）。
