HannahandMaryweregiventoapairofwarriorsandtheirsquaws.Theyweremadetocarryheavyloads,andweretoldthatwhentheyreachedtheIndianvillagetheywouldbestrippedandmadetorunthegauntlettilltheydied.Aftersixweeksoftravelling,Hannahcaughtthe12Indiansoffguard.Whiletheyweresleeping,shetooktheirtomahawks,andtogetherwithMaryproceededtokillthemallexceptanoldwomanandachild.ShescalpedthemandreturnedtoHaverhill,andwasawarded£50forthetenIndianscalps.
