這一句把happened的主詞（subject）省去了，只是省略未得其法。

另一個省略法，是把被動語態（passivevoice）關係子句的關係代名詞和輔助動詞（auxiliaryverb）都省去，例如：Promises（which/thatare）madebythecommunistsarenevermeanttobekept。這省略法不可用於主動語態（activevoice）關係子句。
Happen（發生）是不及物動詞（intransitiveverb），不可有被動語態。所以，你可以說Ireadthenewsaboutarobberywhich/thathappenedthismorning，卻不可說Ireadthenewsaboutarobbery（which/thatwas）happenedthismorning。以下一句則當然正確：Ireadthenewsaboutarobbery（which/thatwas）reportedthismorning（我讀到今天早上所報道那宗劫案的新聞）。
