上司要我寫電郵給同事，列出三個開會日期請他們選擇並盡早答覆。英文怎樣寫？
你可以說：WeareplanningtoholdameetingonJanuary4th,5thor6th,2006.Pleaseletmeknowassoonaspossiblewhichdayyourprefer.Wewillgowiththemajority（現計劃於二○○六年一月四日、五日或六日舉行會議，請擇其一，及早賜示。最多人選擇之一日將定為開會日期）。
「盡早」或assoonaspossible這說法，我認為最好改為byDecember20th,2005（二○○五年十二月二十日前）之類，即指定最後回覆日期，以免別人拖延。
十二月一日貴報《每日英語》欄有以下一句：Theexhibition,theworld'slargestroboticstradeshow,willbehelduntilDecember3rd，譯作「這個全球最大的機械人技術貿易展覽會，將舉行至十二月三日」。但第三版CollinsCOBUILDEnglishDictionaryforAdvancedLearners說：Ifsomethinghappensuntilaparticulartime,ithappensduringtheperiodbeforethattimeandstopsatthattime。然則展覽會最後一天應為十二月二日，也即舉行至十二月二日。
Theexhibitoinwillbeheldtill/until/to/throughtoDecember3rd這一句，所說日期包不包括十二月三日，其實難說，CollinsCOBUILD的解釋不可作準。美式英文的說法比較清楚：TheexhibitoinwillbeheldthroughtoDecember3rd，即包括十二月三日。假如不用美式英語，可用inclusive一字：TheexhibitoinwillbeheldtillDecember3rd,inclusive，這也包括十二月三日。
