羅斯福在旁聽見，就走到窗口前，叫售票員把他的座位讓給那水手。一位朋友說：「提峨多，你自己不是也趕時間嗎？」
羅斯福回答說：「這是身份問題。我只是個將軍，他卻是個兒子。」
【附注】Indifferent是「漠不關心」，切勿以為是different（不同）的反義詞，例如：Thecommunistgovernmentistotallyindifferenttothemiseriesofthepeople（共產黨政府對民間疾苦完全漠不關心）。
