【解說】十七世紀末葉，荷蘭一批基督徒移居非洲南端，他們叫Boers，意思是「農夫」。英國由於在非洲殖民，和波爾人爆發戰爭，最後獲勝，成立南非聯邦。Havethehearttodosomething即「忍心做某事」，一般用於否定句或疑問句，例如：Ididnothavethehearttorefuseherrequest（我不忍拒絕她的要求）。
