先生評曾蔭權anchoringitsplaceintheworldstage（在世界舞台上拋錨）一語有誤，認為「在舞台上」是onthestage。其實anchor必須和in連用，這一點先生不會否認吧？
否認的不只是我。請看Kenkyusha'sNewDictionaryofEnglishCollocations例句：（1）WeanchoredatUraga（我們在浦賀拋錨）。（2）Acruiserpaintedincurioussootyblackwasanchoredtoaredbuoy（一艘漆成古怪煤黑色的巡洋艦泊在紅色浮標處）。（3）anchoroffBristol（在布里斯托海邊拋錨）。（4）anchorinaharbour（在海港拋錨）。然則anchor不必和in連用，應該清楚不過。至於介系詞應用in、off、to、at還是on，得看其後名詞而定。這道理很簡單，只是讀者一再來函質詢，不敢不答。
有電視廣告一開始說：Inthebeginning...，那in應改為at嗎？
Inthebeginning和atthebeginning有點不同。Inthebeginning是「事情開始之後最初一段時間」，atthebeginning則是「某事物開始之時或開始之處」。例如：（1）InthebeginningGodcreatedtheheavensandtheearth（最初，上帝創造了天地）。（2）AtthebeginningofJulyhedied（他七月初去世）。（3）Thewritermakesthisveryclearattheverybeginningoftheessay（文章一開始，就把這一點說得很清楚）。留意atthebeginning之後常用of，和inthebeginning不同；而「天地初開期間」則循例說inthebeginning。「從頭開始」當然是tobeginatthebeginning。
