Whydon'tyoucookthefishinthewayyouusedto?（你為甚麼不用從前的方式烹魚？）這一句的in字可以略去嗎？
說「用某種方式」，英文是inacertainway，那in字在the、my/our/his/her/their/its/your等之前，可以略去；在this、that之前，更習慣不用，例如：（1）Iwilldealwithhim(in)myway（我會用我自己的方式對付他）。（2）Idon'tviewthismatter(in)thesamewayasyoudo（我對這件事的看法和你不同）。（3）Wealwaysbakebreadthisway（我們向來都是這樣烘烤麵包）。
不過，以下這一句的in字就不可省略：Hewalkedinafunnyway（他走路的樣子很有趣）。
Thecolourgreenisobtainedbymixingblueandyellow（綠色是混合藍、黃二色而成）一語，thecolour二字可以省略嗎？改為Thecolourofgreen可以嗎？
Green可作名詞，所以上述句子大可省去thecolour二字。Thecolourofgreen文法上沒問題，但很少人這樣說。Thecolourof...這說法，多用來說「是某種東西的顏色」，例如：Thesofaisthecolouroffreshmilk（沙發是鮮奶的顏色）。
說某種顏色，colour一字往往不必要。例如人家問Whatcolourisherskirt?（她的裙子是甚麼顏色？）你只須說Itisgreen（是綠色的）之類，一般不會說Itisgreenincolour或Itisagreencolour。
