Therebeing即Sincethereis。讀者所說的一句，可譯作「由於沒有其他事情須討論，會議下午五時結束」。不過，being不一定和there連用。
Being解作「因為」，可以用在分詞片語（participleclause）的主詞（subject）之後，也可以和主要子句（mainclause）共用一主詞，例如：（1）Being（=Sincehewas）uninitiated,hedidnotknowwhattodo（他由於是新手，不知道怎麼辦）。（2）Hebeing（=Sinceheis）anhonourableman,wecantrusthim（他是位正直的人，我們可以信賴）。
