In1940theRAFwasamultinationalunit,withCzechs,PolesandAmericansaddingtheirskillstotheBritishflyers.Unfortunately,thegeneralpublicwasunawareofthis.Oneday,apilotwasforcedtobaleoutofafighterplaneoverLondonandcamedownbyparachute,landinginacrowdedstreet.Hewasinjured,andjabberedawayinsomeforeigntonguetothepeoplewhogatheredaroundhim.ThinkingthathewasaGermanandinfuriatedbyraidsonciviliantargetsinLondon,theybeathimtodeath.Tragically,theylearnedtoolatethathewasPolish,andamemberoftheRAF.
一九四○年，英國皇家空軍是一支多國族軍隊，有捷克人、波蘭人、美國人等和英國飛行員合力，可惜一般民眾並不知道。有一天，一位戰機飛行員被迫跳傘逃生，落在倫敦繁忙的街道上。他受了傷，操着外國語向圍攏過來的路人嘰哩咕嚕說話。那些人以為他是德國飛行員，恨德國空襲倫敦民房，把他活活打死了。後來，他們知道打死的是波蘭人，而且是皇家空軍成員，懊悔無及。
【解說】Baleout也作bailout，指「跳傘逃生」，例如：Imanagedtobaleoutbeforetheplanecrashedintothemountainside（飛機撞在山坡上之前，我及時跳傘逃生）。Bale、bail讀音相同，不過，談到「保釋」疑犯，則只能說bailout，不能用bale一字，例如：Hisfatherpaid$2000tobailhimout（他父親以二千元為他保釋）。
