Robespierre,leaderoftheReignofTerror,wouldnotlisten.Toshowhisangeratthedefectionofhisoldally,RobespierreburnedacopyofDesmoulins’newspapersattheJacobinClub.Thejournalist,whowaspresent,rosetohisfeet.Recognisingthefatethatnowawaitedhim,hesaidcalmly,“Toburnisnottoreply.”
