以下三個說法都正確嗎？Fortheperiodfrom(date)to(date)、Fortheperiod(date)to(date)、Fortheperiodbetween(date)and(date)。
這三個說法，都是「由某個時候到某個時候」的意思，其中第二個說法比較隨便，但也正確。例如：Morethan3,000peoplewerekilledincarcrashesduringtheperiod(from)2001to2003（二○○一到二○○三年間，超過三千人死於撞車事故）。這一句的(from)...to當然可改為between...and。
From...to這說法的from字，往往可以略去，特別是在另一個介系詞（preposition）之後，例如：（1）Withthirtytofortystudentsill,theexaminationhadtobepostponed（有三、四十個學生病了，考試只得延期）。（2）Shelivedabroadforaperiodoftwotothreeyears（她在外國住了兩、三年）。
說時間，from...to的to可以改為till/until或美式的through，例如：TheexhibitionlastedfromJunetill/throughAugust（展覽由六月開始，到八月結束）。
Accumulate和culminate有甚麼分別？
Accumulate是「累積」，culminate則有「結果是」、「達到最高點」的意思，兩字完全不同，例如：（1）Junkaccumulatedinthecellar（廢物在地窖裏堆積起來）。（2）HiscareerculminatedinhiselectiontotheHouseofRepresentatives（他獲選為眾議員，事業達到了最高峯）。
