Appendix和annex有甚麼分別？
Appendix、annex一般都譯作「附錄」，意思其實也差不多，但appendix通常是指書本的附錄，annex則指文件的附錄。不過，用appendix說文件的附錄也頗為普遍，二字不必強行分辨，例如：Thereportlistsinanappendix/annextheunemploymentfiguresforthepast24months（那分報告在附錄中列出過去二十四個月的失業率）。
Annex本來是動詞，指「吞併（土地）」或「附加」，例如：(1)WhendidChinafirstannexTibet?（中國最初吞併西藏是甚麼時候？）(2)Thepreviouscorrespondencebetweenthetwopartiesisannexedtotheagreement（雙方以前的通信，附錄於協議之後）。Annex的名詞本是annexe，但美國現在習慣以annex也作名詞，影響及於英國；只是「附屬建築物」在英國仍多叫做annexe，說annex未見普遍，例如：Theydecidedtobuildanannexe/annextothehospital（他們決定給醫院起一棟附屬建築物）。
Appendix的複數是appendixes或appendices，但appendices這寫法漸漸少見；而解作「盲腸」的appendix，假如要用複數形式，更必須寫作appendixes。
Theboytoldmeheis/was13（那男孩子告訴我說，他十三歲）一語，應用is還是was？
這一句，說時假如那孩子仍是十三歲，用is、was都可以；假如已過了十三歲，則應該用was。
