有一天，畢加索去到法國南部的沙灘上，有個小男孩手裏揮舞着一張白紙，向他走來。這孩子顯然是受父母差遣，來討一幅親筆簽名的畫。
畢加索答應了，但卻把那張紙撕毀，在孩子背上畫了個圖案，然後簽名。他後來說：「不知道他們以後還會不會替那孩子沐浴？」
【解說】畢加索一幅畫日前以八億多港元賣出，但假如不是有他親筆簽名，則大概一元都沒有人買。親筆簽名叫autograph，可作名詞或動詞，例如：（1）CouldIhaveyourautographplease?（可以給我簽個名嗎？）（2）HeautographedhisT-shirt（他在他的T恤上簽了名字）。
Enlist即「取得（支持、同情等）」，是個頗常用的字，不可不識，例如：（1）YoucanneverhopetoenlisttheChinesecommunists'sympathyforthecauseofdemocracy（要中共同情民主運動，是癡心妄想）。（2）Ihadtoenlisthishelptoinstallthecomputer（我得請他幫忙安裝電腦）。
