Therearemanyplacestogo和Therearemanyplacestogoto（有很多地方要去）這兩句，哪一句正確？僑居美國多年的朋友說第二句，然則Therearemanyproblemstodealwith（有很問題要處理）一語，with為甚麼卻不刪去？Gotoaplace、dealwithaproblem這兩個說法，介系詞to、with不是同樣不可刪去嗎？
Therearemanyplacestogo和Therearemanyplacestogoto兩句都正確，只是第一句比較隨便。英文句子，假如用「名詞＋to原形動詞（infinitive）＋介系詞（preposition）」這句式，那介系詞偶然可以略去，這省略法在place一字之後最為常見，例如：（1）Ihavenoplacetolive(in)（我沒有地方居住）。（2）Youhavethreedaystodoit(in)（你有三天做這件事）。
但上述省略法絕對不是無施不可的。Therearemanyproblemstodealwith就是一例。假如你不能肯定介系詞能不能略去，就不要略去。Shehasachildtolookafter（她要照顧一個孩子）可不能略作Shehasachildtolook。
